Sturday

Typed a whole page yesterday and it wouldnt save.   I find that very frustrating.  I am going to test it now.

Passes test.   I was downloading updates fromNorton, maybe that is why it wouldnt/

I am on second call today.   I hope I dont get called in.   I have been sick since Weds.  Woke up with a sore throat and today I have nasal congestion.   All I want to do is lie on the couch and wallow in my misery.

Too bad Chuck isnt here to listen to me wallowing.   Some people who are sick want to lay on the couch and have some one else tend to them like the king or queen.  Fortunatly, me and he just want to be left ALONE.  Having some one summon you with requests is enought to drive the healthy one crazy.  Make you want to kill the sick one, and that would not look good in a court of law.............................................

Thursday

Off today, worked like a dog.   The day started at 6:30 and temporarily ended at 8:30 pm.   Then called again at 2 am for a appendectomy that started at 4:30.   The surgeon said he would be there at 3:30 and showed up at 4:15 am  He was working at another hospital.   This poor soul just moved to Pgh from Boston and didnt know a soul.   He looked pretty good when he was to recover.

Yesterday was very busy.  Chuck said how nice it was, but who would know working in the catacombs.

Worst of all was waking up in the morning with a sore throat, and knowing your days off will be spent with you being sick................

Tuesday

Back to work after a vacation.   I really hate goingback to work.   Chuck is still off.  He was scheduled to go on Monday but they cancelled him.

I would like to be able to cancel bills like that.   I dont need you bill, so I am cancelling you today.  He goes back on Friday.

Since this is the second time I am doing this, I have run out of steam on this journal today

Tuesday

This is the second entry for today.   The last one wouldnt post

The vacation is over.......................Maybe it will be easier going to work than being the shed go-fer.  Yesterday Chuck tried to kill himself by slipping off the roof.   All he did was hurt his L arm and shoulder.

I got to do first aid and was critized by the way I applied the tape.  Maybe he should look for a management position at work so he can critique the peons.  lol lol lo

Going on a tour of the Burgh with my chums.  The Red Hat ladies are going and then out to dinner.  I have  never been at the Spagheti Warehouse.  Hope it is good.   I wanted to take some pictures but it isnn rainy once again.......

Nothing realy new here at all..  Maybe there wil be something after my outing................

Saturday

The sun is slowly sinking.  Today was a nonevent..  Went to breakfast and then to the mall.  Bought a plum colored raincoat.

We worked on the shed again.  Had to buy shingles and tarpaper and other assorted things needed for its construction.   Chuck was up on the roof and he slid off, abraded his left forearm and hurt his shoulder.  He is lucky he didnt  break a leg.  I would have ahd to call the ambulance for that one.

Going with the red hat ladies for a tour of Pgh and then for dinner at the Spaghetti Warehouse.

BAck to work on Monday :(

Saturday

Couldn't get to sleep last night......My shoulder hurt and even after I took 800mg of Motrin it felt better but sleep elluded me.

I lay there and think and worry about every thing and if it is not a problem I will make it one in my imagination.  It was after midnight when I finally decided to take 50mg of benadyl and I finally fell asleep.................

Hope it is better tonight.

Friday, October 22, 2004

The shed is essentially finished, at least from my involvement.   What is left to do is tar paper and shingle the roof, and paint the trim.   It is very humid and today would not be the day to do that.

I wonder if after we get the shed full, will we have any aditional room in the garages.  Someone told me that we wouldn't.............................

Fell on my arse..   The ground was wet and my feet just slid out from under me like in the cartoons.  I put my left arm back to lessen my fall and I had a tremendous pain in my L shoulder.  Took some EXS tylenol which eased it up a bit.   I will alternate with Motrin and take 800mg before I go to bed.  I really hate having pain tha interferres with my sleep.

Last night, in PENN DOTs wisdom, they decided to grind the high spots on the SR 286.   I woke up from a sound sleep to hear what sounded like a rotating ufo.   I didnt really  think that was the case, so I got out of bed and threre were bright lights and all work going on.   If I would have to get up for work this morning I would have been really irked........................

Tomorrow, if the sun is shining I will go to the fall flower show at the Phipps.   I want to take pictures but without the sun it will be a waste of time.

Thursday

Just finished puting the sides of the shed. I was mostly the go-fer.  All that is left to do is the roof and then the shingles and some painting.   I am glad that most of it is painted.

This week we were both off and the weather has been abysmal.   Rain and drizzle all week.   It is suppose to be better tomorrow.  I just can't wait for that.

On Saturday I would like to go to the Fall Flower Show.   It all depends on how the weather is.  If it is sunny it will be good for taking flower pictures.  If it is cloudy for get it.

Nothing much going on here....................................

Monday

The Sams Club people called and said that it was their policy and that is how it is.   Gave me a number to call back, as if I want to hear them say that again.   A person could be ordering on line and use a stolen card in the store.  What makes the over the phone so different..........................

Started on the shed construction.   Actually, I watched a lot.   We would have gotten farther but the rains arrived.   It is suppose to rain tomorrow too.

Tommorrow is my and my sisters birthday, yikes,  I forgot to send her a card.   How in the world did I do that, its my birthday too...  Going out to eat and who knows what else I will do, nothing, probably....

Birthdays really become uneventful.   I have always made it a policy to take off from work on that day............................

Friday

Its Friday.   Got an email back from Sams Club.  They are sorry for my inconvience.......with another letter to follow, or so they say.

Had a busy day, up early and to the bank with dtr.   Then for a doctors apt with her.   She needed a refill on her allergy medicine, and she was really sneezing when she got there.   He gave her the Rx and a few sample packs to boot.   She really did sound bad.

Then a quick trip to the mall, the yarn store and the pharmacy.  Then grocery shopping and a stint of throwing your pennies, nickles and pennies down the gullet of the change sorting machine.  It net $72.02.   I was surprised by that number.   Then on to a haircut and picking up the car from its state inspection.   I would say we had a very full day.

I am here typing in my journal and the dtr is taking a nap.   Wait till she gets to be my age.   I guess if I live right I could still be alive then. I would be in my 90's but it is with in the realm of possibilities................

Dont know what we have to do tomorrow but it will probably be interesting....

Thursday

I have been aggravated again.    This time by Sams Club.   I think I may even go and find a email place and send them a letter./.......................\My college age dtr had a flat tire.   The tire had a hole in it and was beyond repair.

She lives in OH and I in PA/  I told her to go to Sams Club and get a tire and I would call in the credit card number,   Well, she found a tire and the Great and Powerful Sams Club would not take my information and let me charge this tire over the phone.    I even spoke to their manager.

Honestly if someone were to rip off Sams dont you think they would get getting plasma tvs, dvd, and stereo sets?????   That really drove me crazy

From now on it is NO TIRES from Sams club and I will tell everyone I know about this...........................

I had to go to the bank and deposit (cash) in to her bank account so she could pay for this time.   What a PITA

Tuesday

Nothing really going on here today.   Went to the muscle/fascial pain guy.  He is very young and somehow I thought he would be a bit older.  Not that it matters, I was just surprised.   He ordered some Rx to help me sleep.  It is a low dose Pamelor.  In two weeks I will go and have my trigger points injected and start PT.  I hope this works.  He told me it is harder to treat chronic pain, because it has been going on so long.   Any improvement would be great.   I am tired of the constant pain.......................

Bought a pair of boots.   The old ones are coming apart when I put them on.  The lining keeps coming out when I take my feet out of them.  One of my pet peaves is when things dont work like they were designed to do. This applies to many things.  Mechanical equipment and electronic equipment are at the to of my list..............

Back to work tomorrow.  Wish I had taken of Weds and Thurs too.  Been counting up my days and I have additional hours.   I can roll over 56, so I am ok there.

Tuesday

Work on Sunday was uneventful.   And that is the way I like it..................One ortho case in the morning and one at 8 pm.

Yesterday I was thwarted by the lack of places that I needed to go,  they were closed because of a "holiday".   If I dont have off or get paid for it, it isnt a holiday.  Being a nurse there are only 6 holidays, and a lot of people have 10 or better.   My husband is a Navy veteran and he doesnt get off on veterans day.   I think all the veterans should have off and the rest of the work force go to work.   I am willing to bet that the Congress has off.  And probably most of them were draft dodgers.

Yesterday I took all the photostuff out of my dads house.  I have a plan to scan and save all the family photos.   This is going to be labor intensive.  Also I plan on taking a digital photo class.  What I want to learn to do is how t save photos on CDs.   I know know how many mb are on the cds but I havn't been able to determine how many mb that a scanned photo will take up on that cd.   I have read about the diferent formats (tiff and jpeg) but the storeage eludes me.   And I still havn't solved how to get the pictures to occupy the space in this journal.

Today I am spending my day doing things I couldnt do yesterday.  Going to the bank and buying a bottle of wine.   PA has the most antiquated and assenine liquor laws.  The people who made the laws and oppose its change think that if they sold wine in stores (grocery) that the entire population of PA will become alcoholics.   Just look at the other states, is the entire population of states who sell wine in grocery stores addicted to alcohol???

I really become irked by the power of stupid people who try to enfore their will and ideas on the population of a whole.....................

Saturday

Off today, and it was a lovely day.   My brother and I went to 2327 and up into the attic.   My dad had stuff stored up there.   Richard pitched the stuff out the attic window and I made a pile of the stuff.   It looks like there will be another metal run.  I gathered all the photographic items.  He had 9 or 10 boxes of slides made of the "13 week trip"  Each box containes at the max 150 slides.   I only looked at a few, but the ones I did seem to be jammed packed.  This project of mine is going to be really labor intensive.  No wonder it costs a lot to have this done.  And the lady who told me to buy my own scanner told me the truth.   I really think I will take the digital photo class.  The pictures I could see looked absolutely fantastic.

On call tomorrow, you never know what the day will bring.  I had one day where I did NOTHING for 24 hours and one day I worked 22 out of 24 hours.  I was totally exhausted and had a give a shit atitude by the break of dawn that day,.   Maybe it will be inbetween......... But I have decided when the heart program starts I will quit taking call.

I also wonder how the the world do the "geniuses" in DC think people can work till they are 65 plus or up to 70.   Most comon people are in labor intense jobs who will be exhausted by the time they reach 60.  I personaly know this is true for nurses and other health care people.   The legislature must think that everyone has jobs like they do......................

I think that all the people should have the retirement you get after serving in the congress.   They are paid their same salary from retirement till they die.  That is the biggest ripof ever.   How can you get any breaks, they make the laws for US and then they pass lucrative bills and perks for THEMSELVES.   The congress ought to be required to live like the average Joe Lunchpail for about 5 years.   They exist in a bubble...............

Friday

the last workday of the week.  It was really uneventful.  Found out there is no spell check on this journal.  I refuse to waste time looking for words spelled correctly and just plan to go on as before.

Spending tomorrow going down to 2327 and try (maybe) to get stuff out of the attic.   My brother Richard has been the best and extremely reliable on getting rid of stuff.  He had made 3 metal runs and it looks like he will be making another,   I decided that I will get rid of useless junk that accumulated in an attic.   I dont want Emily to go thru what we have with all totally useless junk.

I also want to go and get the photos and negatives from 2327.   I want to take a class on digital photography and make some sense of this mess.  My father held all his posession in high esteem, and worried that we would "sell" his stuff.  I hate to break the news to him, but all this precious stuff is totally useless and antiquated.....................

Thursday

Here I go again.   I somehow lost the the early addition to this.  I had moved this page in order to talk with mydtr and couldnt reach the save button.  I havn't found a spell check on this journal either.

Spent most of the day cleaning.  I made the mistake of wearing my glasses in the house and could see the cobwebs,  So, I felt obligated to clean them.  I would like to paint the family room a warm buttery yellow.   A new Lowes oppened up and I got some color samples.   I would love to have a store be able to mix up a very small amount of paint that you could bring home and just put it on the walls.   That way you would really know how it would look.

Henry, the cat, is sitting on top of the printer.  It must be warm.

Back to work tomorrow....................

Wednesday

This aol has really been hard to start up.   I may just have to delete it and reinstall.   How does this stuff go "bad"  If I had a kid on here I could understand it.   And my spy stuff turns out negative.   I guess it is just one of the imponderables of life.   I also wish this had a spell check.  I am pretty good at spelling, and no one wants to play Scrabble with me.............

Yesterday at work was horrendous (?)  Started at 6:30 and did not end till midnight.  Five hours for a Gamma hip.   That guy was really in SUPER SLO MO...............I think there are no good slow surgeons.   Most of the really good surgerons get in, do their work and minimize their patients time in the or and under anesthesia.   The shorter the case the better the outcome.  For example a 1 hour gall bladder vs. a 5 hour gallbladder.   You could be home healing by the time some of these guys get done....................

I still havn't solved the picture vs size problem.   I hope to, by the time I die, get this resolved.  I wanted to put all the childhood photos on cds.  And my dad had LOTS of slides that I wanted to do that too.    I called a photo place to see how to do slides.  Find out that you need a special transparency adaptor and it is only good on scanners only.   Not a combination like I have....Then my question was how much does it cost to scan and stre.   Well.............................it cost $3 per slide.    I would have $1000 spent.  The lady told me it would be cheaper for me to buy the scanner (about $100) and do it myself.   I hope her bos wasnt listening to that advice.   She was an honest woman.........................I also looked into taking a digital photo class at the Pgh Filmakers.    My dtr took a 35mm camera class there in HS>  Maybe I willdo that.  It is one a half hours on Mondays for 14 weeks.   Told him what I wanted to do and this seems to be a good idea..................I could use their stuff and see what I want to do

Sunday

Spend yesterday in Cleveland.  Did a special delivery of my dads stereo system to my dtr.  None of the other siblings wanted and my dtr was coveting it.  I also took about 50 to 75???  old LPs.  Some of them  I had purchsed at the library for 25cents.   Well her and all her chums think that the turntable was the  best thing next to sliced bread.   Even better was I got it assembled and connected in no time at all.  I think it was easy because I labeled everything when I took it apart.  I thought her boom box would be able to be added to the mix but it doesnt had an aux outlet.

Then we looked at yarn stored and spend $95 at the grocery buying healthy food. Eating healthy costs a lot of money.   And the surprising thing is she is a vegitarian and didnt buy any meat.   We also went to a movie (The Forgoten)  BIG LOOSER, DON'T EVEN BOTHER TO GO.  I am jsut glad it was a matinee  and I didnt pay full price for that waste of celuloid.  And then had a nice dinner out.

I have installed Microsoft Digital Image Suite,  I no can enlarge my igital images, but I still am trying to figure out how to get them onto to this journal.   They are stored in the bowels of this computer and I plan to do it.............

I got that pictures a lt\ittle bigger, come on now, this is isnt rocket science.

Friday

I always thought cats were graceful.  Well,  I have a few that are complete klutzes.   Henry was just up on the desk and was knocking stuff down with his tail.  He also walks over things and they go crashing to the floor.  He just had his big red derrrier on top on my scanner/ printer and then proceeded to place his scent on it.   I am realy glad I do not smell as well as  dogs or cats.

Tomorrow I am going to Cleveland to visit the dtr.  I asked her if she wanted me to give her a wake up call in the morning (7ish) and can you believe she said "NO>"   Guess I will call her when I get to the Ohio turnpike exit.   That should be about :30 m.   We will go to breakfast and then some bumming around.   I will be toting my dads stereo and turntable.   I got the old vinyl LPs out of the storrage room.  They are really heavy.

She said that she has a place ready for their arrival, guess that remains to be seen.....................
