Monday

It is nice and quiet here today.   We just havn't got started on the day.  On cal Saturday and was busy the whole day.  Had a ectopic pregnancy in the evening who was bleeding and needed to be done asap.

This poor woman had only been in this country for 3 months.   Although her command of English was pretty good  I ws thinking how afraid she must have been to be in a new country and really not have a clue the way things were done in an American Hospital.   All went well, but I can imagine how she felt.  We all tried to ressure her and do our best to make her feel comfortable.

Toda we are going into the City of Pittsburgh.  It is a small enough city that you can park centrally and walk all about it.  The problem is the Major Missmanagement of the city government.  Mayor Murphy is antagonistic and does just the opposite of what should be done.  Actually he zigs when everyone else is zagging.  I rarely go into the city.  The parking tax is the highest in the nation,  I can expect to pay $10 to $12 for a few hours downtown.   The city oficials want to know why people don't shop down there.   ITS THE PARKING, STUPID.  I can park at any mall and do it for free and have more stores.  Two department stores have left and the city planning commission has some bright (oxymoron) idea that they can control who goes in and it has to up to some magical plan that they have developed.  Business has inquired and have been turned down by this commission.  The city is in debt with the only way to bale them out in INCREASE TAXES AGAIN.  They are guilty of financial mismanagement.  The only wasy HRH Murphy got reelected was that he "bought off"  the fire fighters union, a day or two before the election by promises of higher wages and no layoffs........

Glad I dont live in the city, because they are expecting to raise the property taxes aain.  Right now they are spending about $15,000 per pupil and they need more.  They could be sending them all to private school at that rate and they would recieve a better bang for their buckat that.
