Another hot as hell day.   Well, hot in the respect that yesterday it was 65 and today it is 90.   Last night was 49 and tonight it is to be in the low 70's

Work was busy and uneventful today.  Tomorrow I am in charge.....and do I hate that.   There is not enough help and people are on LOA and vacations at the same time.  Yesterday was awful, but I was off.   I am secretly glad when my days off are busy at work.  Makes me feel glad to be not there.

The mental giants at PENDOT have come up with another f-up.   This weekend is the Kenny Chesney concert, Three Rivers Arts Festival, Pittsburgh Symphony and people for the US Open will be arriving for next weeks golf classic.  There is not a room to be had.  And the ones they had are going for 3 times the usual price.   Even the fleabags are booked.

SO. PENDOT in their eternal wisdom decided this weekend to close the outbound lane of I 376.  Also know as the Parkway East starting on Friday evening and reopening Monday morning.  You people in other towns  may wonder why that is such a big deal.    IT IS THE ONLY HIGHWAY ROUTE TO THE EAST FROM PITTSBURGH.    You can get here from there but the drive is thru city neighborhoods going 25 to 35 miles per hour, two lanes with stop lights on every corner.   Other cities have multiple  routes and parallel routes but here in "The Most Livable City" we do not.   It is most livable if you stay in your house and do not leave it this weekend.

There was a plan to build the "Mon-Fayette Expressway to serve as a bypass.  But our great legislators said it was too expensive and the project is about one third done.    They have money to give themselves lavish pensions, per diem rates, food money and a car allowance on top of that.   What we need to do is the people get control of the legislature again.   We in this state can not even petition for a referendum here.  DON'T MOVE TO PA.

Wednesday

"There art two cardinal sins from which all others spring: Impatience and Laziness."
Franz Kafka

I am certainly guilty of impatience but I don't think I am lazy.  But, I could give it a try.....................

Wednesday

This looks like one of the scenes out of a space alien movie.   One of my favorite movies was the old Invasion of the Body Snatchers.   Somehow, things seem scarier in black and white.    Another one I likes was Terminator.  It was in color and the robot just kept going like the Energizer bunny.

I must have a few other but they escape me for the moment.   The kid and I went to the mall.  She got  a few shirts that can be worn to work and for concert dress.   Got them on the clearance rack too.   I rarely by clothes and pay full price.   Unless there is some special occasion and I really needed a dress or whatever it was.

I have just spent a bit of time reading my old entries.   Some of the things I complained about are still here to bug me.  Guess they will never end.  Back to work tomorrow.   Can't wait till I can cut back my hours.   I don't want to just up and quit, I want to decrease gradually.

Monday

This, I have heard, is the one that the Phipps would like to buy.   It will cost about $350,000.   Maybe they could have a carwash and a bake sale.    I also heard that all the glass was made specifically for the Phipps, sounds like a waste of glass to me.   I will have to peruse the other sites and see if I recognize anything.

Sunday

This is another shot from the Chihuly exhibit.   These bowls were massive, and  very colorful.   E and I are going to go some evening and see the exhibit in the night.   Maybe September or October.  It willbe cooler.   The temperature was sultry in the conservatory.

Went to visit my hsband Aunt Edna.  I have a lot of pictures to scan and make new albums.  Mostly pictures from his grandfather and his siblilngs.   They were formal portraits and so they must have had money.  C sid they lost it in the depression.  Guess a lot of people did also.  We had a nice lunch and I brough dessert from the Oakmont Bakery.  That was sensory overload.

Saturday

This picture is as hot as the weather.   Went to the Chihuly show at the Phipps.   It was HOT HOT HOT.   It is as HOT as August.    This started back in May.  The temperature inside ranged from hot and dry to hot and humid.    Walking around there was sultry.   In the hot humid area it was hard to breathe.    I took 123 pictures and deleted a few to get the total down to 117.   I wonder how many will fit on a CD

.Welcome to the Frick

Then we went to the Frick Art Museum.   Tried to conjure it up once and lost this journal entry.   Don't want to do that again.   I will save this entry, look for the site and then edit the entry.

We then had lunch at the Frick Art Cafe and it was good.   The soup  du jour was a pureed asparagus soup with curry.   I tasted good but looked like something I would see in a decompressed nasogastric tube.   Kept picturing that while I was eating..........
